We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as amended, including the reforms introduced by the Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (Cth).
This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us:
- Contact form. Your name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Newsletter. Your email address, and the date and source of your subscription.
We do not ask for, and you should not send us, sensitive information such as health, financial or identity-document details.
How we use it
- To reply to your message.
- To send you the newsletter (release announcements and updates about the books) if you have subscribed.
- To keep records of correspondence where we are required to.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Who else handles your information
This is a small operation and we rely on a few reputable service providers to run the site:
- Our web host, which stores the website files and may keep standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and diagnostics.
- Our email newsletter provider, which stores subscriber email addresses and sends the newsletter on our behalf.
- Our email provider, which delivers and stores messages sent through the contact form.
Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. By using the contact form or subscribing to the newsletter you consent to your information being disclosed to and stored by those providers overseas. We take reasonable steps to use providers that offer appropriate protections, but overseas recipients may not be subject to Australian privacy law.
Cookies and analytics
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not profile visitors across other websites. If website analytics are added in future, this policy will be updated before they are switched on.
Keeping information secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access or disclosure, including accounts protected by strong passwords and multi-factor authentication where available. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe using the link in the footer of every email.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email FKLawrence@fklawrence.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at FKLawrence@fklawrence.com.au so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always at this address, with the review date shown at the top.
